STOLEN THRONE CROOK OF THE CROWN | CIGAR REVIEW

MARCH 3, 2022 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

STOLEN THRONE CROOK OF THE CROWN TORO (6 x 52)

WRAPPER: MEXICAN SAN ANDRÉS

BINDER: INDONESIA

FILLER: INDONESIA, NICARAGUA

A bit of creamy dark chocolate and earth open up the Crook with a slightly snug draw and good smoke output.

Sweetened earth and dark chocolate move through the nostrils.

Dark chocolate, coffee, and a dash of spice work together well, keeping the finish smooth.

The burn line seeks no assistance from me. I dig that.

A bit of undefined fruit builds little by little, swapping turns with sweetened earth. Dark chocolate lingers, and creaminess begins to build as well.

Spice begins to build now. A lot of building going on. Legos on the mind? Who knows? It’s early. Anyway.

The room note dances around with wood, dark chocolate, spice, and earth.

The ash is slightly flaky but hangs on well.

Leather begins to show a presence, adding to dark chocolate and earth, not overwhelming them.

Dark chocolate begins the finish, followed by cream, which softens things up a bit, leaving me with a bit of milk chocolate hanging on nearly to the next pull.

Deep, rich earth and mild coffee fill the nose and wander out smoothly, leaving some milk chocolate behind. Nice.

The draw loosens up a bit, allowing for a bump in the smoke output. Building?

Speaking of building, I was never a Lego kid. I always thought it was cool what people built with them, but I was too busy outside. I’m guessing it’s rather difficult to build a detailed Lego set while running around like an idiot. I never tried, but I’m guessing.

Tobacco and spice pop in now and then.

The flavors begin to wander in and out like people who “work the room” at parties, each coming and going. A slightly different conversation each draw. Just when I think I’m starting to strike up a conversation with dark chocolate, he leaves and tobacco, earth, leather, or coffee take his place. Just when one of those conversations gets moving, here comes dark chocolate again, picking up where we left off. That’s fine.

Welcome, dark stone fruit. Tobacco was just talking about you. I’m not sure where he went though.

Dark chocolate, coffee, and leather continue to work their way through the party, as clove spice peeks in once in a while. Small talk.

Dark chocolate and milk chocolate struggle for dominance on the retrohale, while earth chats with clove spice and watches in amusement. You’re both pretty.

Coffee, leather, dark chocolate, and creaminess have found their spots on the finish, and they’re not budging. These are my kind of party people. Find a spot, sit down, and hope nobody talks to you. Have I mentioned I don’t like parties?

SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 47 mins.

RATING: 3.25 / 4 - It’s a Lego party.
