SHADY MOOSE | CIGAR REVIEW

JULY 13, 2023 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

SHADY MOOSE TORO (6 x 52)

WRAPPER: ECUADORIAN CONNECTICUT

BINDER: MEXICO

FILLER: U.S.A., COLOMBIA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, NICARAGUA

Nice smooth wrapper on this Shady Moose. Not something I always mention, but something that hit me today.

Smooth, spicy, and slightly creamy right out of the gate. Light cream with a splash of vanilla make for a nice core. The retrohale picks out some earth with some light coffee. Smooth, spicy, and creamy on the finish. Not too much spice, just a nice touch of it.

Excellent draw with a smoke output to match. Vanilla, wood, and subtle spice float quietly around the room.

Shady Moose starts to drop a bit of the sweetness for some light coffee on the pulls, which is still joined by a smooth and creamy foundation. Cinnamon occasionally drifts in and out. I always enjoy that.

The burn works independently, never seeking attention from me.

I’ve got Prince stuck in my head today for reasons unknown. Excellent musician, but always kind of a hit and miss with me. Maybe it was all the purple. Not a purple fan.

Shady Moose falls right in the “mild and smooth” category like a champ, and it’s one I would have no problem reaching for when that particular mood strikes me.

SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 35 mins.

RATING: 3 / 4 - No purple here.
