OSCAR VALLADARES 2012 CONNECTICUT | CIGAR REVIEW

FEBRUARY 5, 2023 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

OSCAR VALLADARES 2012 CONNECTICUT TORO (6 x 52)

WRAPPER: HONDURAS

BINDER: HONDURAS

FILLER: HONDURAS, NICARAGUA

This certainly isn’t a new cigar, be I've yet to have it grace my humidor, so I figured I'd give it a review.

For starters, the draw and smoke output are excellent. Spice hits right out front, continuing through to the finish, and it lingers until the next pull. Sweetness plays in there, hinting at vanilla and followed up by an understated milk chocolate in the pull and dark chocolate on the finish.

A nicely balanced spice and sweetness pour through the retrohale. Quite smoothly as well.

The ash holds on well and breaks off without much resistance. A fairly pretty ash. Can ash be pretty? Whatever. I don’t have to explain myself to anyone.

Aside from the spice subsiding and touches of earth joining the team, everything remains fairly consistent during my time with the 2012, and that’s not a bad thing.

Overall, the 2012 has a bit more get-up-and-go without sacrificing everything there is to love about Connecticuts. I'd smoke it again.

SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 39 mins.

RATING: 3 / 4 - It’s okay to be pretty.
