MAYFLOWER DAWN | CIGAR REVIEW

NOVEMBER 28, 2024 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

MAYFLOWER DAWN TORO (6 x 54)

WRAPPER: ECUADORIAN CONNECTICUT

BINDER: CAMEROON

FILLER: NICARAGUA

Dawn sets the stage with sweet cream, earth, and spice. The trio lingers comfortably on the finish. Earth, cashew, and spice on the retrohale. Nose hairs slightly singed.

Smooth cashew butter and a touch of sweet coffee drift off the foot and dance around the shed.

A bit snug on the draw at first but loosens along the way. Ample smoke output.

A few days ago, I watched a drum cover of Primus’ “Over the Electric Grapevine”, which got the song firmly wedged in my head. Then, I watched a video of former Primus drummer (also my favorite Primus drummer) Tim Alexander break down the beat. Quite a hypnotic beat. Quite a powerful beat. I dig it.

Solid ash breaks cleanly; burn waves from time to time but never falters.

Sweetness and spice fade a bit near the half, and leather finds a spot near the end. Otherwise, Dawn remains fairly consistent.

Happy Thanksgiving.

SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 41 mins.

RATING: 3 / 4 - Quite hypnotic.
