JOYA DE NICARAGUA DOS CIENTOS GRAN TORO (6 x 54)
WRAPPER: ECUADORIAN HABANO
BINDER: MEXICO
FILLER: NICARAGUA, HONDURAS, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
The Dos Cientos’ dark brown wrapper plays well against a band that I think I might like. Seems different. Kinda cool.
Brown sugar takes the lead, calling in spice and earth soon after, and the sweetness of the brown sugar latches on to the underbelly of the other two, riding with them and past to the end. Spice, earth, and leather drop in the retrohale. Coffee and spice converse in the finish while brown sugar quietly eavesdrops, nearly undetected.
Draw resists just a touch without hindering the experience as ample smoke follows. The burn grows a tail with the wrapper moving away from the binder at the tail’s end. One hit with my lighter. No big deal.
Cinnamon and fruit, leaning towards sweet apple, meander through the neighborhood. Chocolate tries to keep up.
The second clump of ash meets its demise as I fumble the Dos Cientos like a sloth trying to juggle flaming chainsaws. My bad.
Fruit and slightly sweetened earth flow out of the Dos Cientos. Chocolate continues to hang back from the pack just a bit. Antisocial. I can relate. Sweet bread hops in the group, a bit late like Joe. Joe has no concept of time. Always a bit late and then asking Jack to catch him up on what he’s missed. Buy a watch, Joe.
Black pepper spice jumps to the front and introduces a new bud to the group. Everyone, meet sweetened coffee.
The Dos Cientos slowly continues to build interest. Enjoyable. Thoughts and prayers that it doesn’t peter out as we hit the last lap.
Side note. I’m using a gadget during this review that you’ll be able to hear more about after I’ve given it a three-month evaluation. Could’ve done a product unboxing, but why? Information provided by product unboxings can easily be found through Google and a moderate ability to read.
Butter. For just a few draws. I’ll take it. Bread drops the sweetness. Dark chocolate rolls in. Cinnamon hangs on the sidewalk like those dang neighborhood hoodlums. Stay off my lawn.
Mellows. No petering. Thanks, prayer warriors.
SMOKE TIME: 2 hrs. 9 mins.
RATING: 3 / 4 - Prayer warriors pull through.
