FRATELLO ORO THE BOXER (6 1/4 x 52)
WRAPPER: ECUADOR
BINDER: AFRICA
FILLER: COLOMBIA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, NICARAGUA
Jabs of cream, peanuts, earth, and sweetened coffee land lightly right before a gentle spice blankets my palate. Coffee, influenced by some nuttiness, cascades from my nose. The finish drops a heavy helping of spice, preceded by deep roots and soil.
The draw and smoke output match each other in excellence. A smooth, sleek fighter.
Wood, spice, and bits of earth envelope the room, adding an occasional sweet stone fruit note for good measure.
Coffee, earth, fruit, and nuttiness dance around. Spice continues to dominate the finish without overpowering the earth that takes up some space.
The ash hangs on well, but the burn seems a bit dazed after I roll off the ash. A little patience and the smoke roll™ help the burn find its feet. Tragedy avoided, but the new ash flares. Bell bottom ash.
Waning a bit, the Oro smoothly musters out coffee, earth, and spice. Nuttiness tends to lead the pulls but ducks out of the way like a referee trying to catch the action while avoiding being punched himself. Cocoa butter acts as the referee’s shadow when the lighting is just right.
Retrohales pass by cleanly, tossing in some coffee at the end.
Spice, coffee, and bitter leather saturate the palate lightly, lingering to the next draw.
Not a bad warmup bout for a main event. Ash gets a little flaky.
Dashes of chocolate rush through now and again while coffee and subtle sugary sweetness, sometimes accented by fruit, take most of the spotlight.
Flowing cleanly throughout, the retrohale now takes a slight turn into freshly baked bread.
Coffee and spice do some more quick footwork on the finish, hosting leather, which has dropped its bitterness.
The Oro winks at its corner. Nice work.
