CAO BX3 | CIGAR REVIEW

OCTOBER 2, 2022 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

CAO BX3 ROBUSTO (5 x 52)

WRAPPER: BRAZILIAN MATA FINA

BINDER: BRAZILIAN ARAPIRACA

FILLER: BRAZIL, NICARAGUA, HONDURAS, MEXICO

BX3’s easy like a Sunday morning draw ushers in wood, dark earth, very subtle fruit, and leathery coffee. The retrohale mimics part of the draw with its own offering of leathery coffee and subtle fruit. Spice hangs out on the finish, preceded by earth, smoky plums, and pizza crust. Interesting combination.

Bits of chocolate, smooth leather, and fruit float around the room, providing good company.

Solid ash.

Smoky plums move up a few rungs on the ladder, flowing through the entire draw and exhale. Solid foundation. Earth and leather provide some variety.

Earth flows through the retrohale, and I swear I’m detecting some faint butterscotch in there. I might be crazy, but if so, I’m willing to enjoy that bit of insanity.

The finish moves easily from smooth coffee to leather to coffee grounds. Plum rests quietly on the tongue.

BX3 should not be confused with that Vin Diesel movie. BX3 is much classier and enjoyable.

Plum still pushes through, dropping the smokiness. Earth, coffee, and spice provide some variation and support. Creamy milk chocolate even flows through every so often.

Earth connects with a floral note and creamy milk chocolate on the retrohale. The floral note forms walls around the other two.

Coffee grounds stand alone firmly on the finish.

BX3 performed well, free from any extra work on my part to keep it moving along.

SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 20 mins.

RATING: 3 / 4 - Not starring Vin Diesel.
