ADVENTURA THE NAVIGATOR CABRAL (6 x 54)
WRAPPER: MEXICAN SAN ANDRÉS
BINDER: INDONESIA
FILLER: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, NICARAGUA, ECUADOR
A nice open draw ushers in heaps of smoke, which bring with them wood, dark soil, spice, and touches of dark chocolate. My nostrils are greeted with dark earth, and earth, spice, and a splash of sweetened coffee linger about on the finish.
Milk chocolate, wood, and spice pour off the foot. I would say it’s the room note, but I’m not in a room. I’m on my back deck. Deck note? Anyway.
On a side note, if you enjoyed my YouTube videos or reviews, you might enjoy my podcast, The Phil Switch. Of course, you might not enjoy it, and that’s fine too.
Creamy mocha joins in the action occasionally, but dark earth, wood, and bits of spice are the main players so far. The finish has taken on a nice coffee note, complemented with wood. Cool.
Solid burn and ash.
Navigator steadily travels along a fairly straight path. Bits of toffee sprinkle themselves here and there, but dark earth, wood, and bits of spice still host the journey.
The retrohale adds a slight addition of coffee to its well established dark earth.
Coffee and wood unwaveringly hold down the finish, keeping the palate awake and alert. Sounded like a doctor there. I’m not.
The burn travels a bit off course, but the trusted smoke roll ™ keeps us on track.
Remember the movie Flight of the Navigator? If you only watched it has a kid, you might just want to keep with that memory. I saw it again recently, and I probably shouldn’t have.
The straight and narrow it is. Nothing to update, and that’s fine.
Great burn, solid ash, perfect draw, plentiful smoke output, and consistent flavors. Good job, Navigator.
SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 13 mins.
RATING: 3 / 4 - Maybe I should have been a doctor.
